Vintage Style Inspiration /Film/ The Other Side Of Midnight 1977

The Other Side Of Midnight
Starring: Marie-France Pisier, John Beck, Susan Sarandon

A Greek tycoon’s French movie-star mistress tracks her ex-World War II lover. From the Sidney Sheldon book.

This movie is quite fabulous. It aired over a month ago and I caught it just as I was trying to fall asleep and was captured by the spectacular style details. I recorded it because I wanted to inspect every single one of those details {fashion, decor, makeup, hair, accessories} when I was good and ready.

What I love most is that the movie is set in the 40’s but it was filmed in the 70’s so it’s really interesting to see how the set decorators and costumers decided on the look of it. For instance, in almost every scene, the main actress, Marie-France Pisier, is wearing huge platform 70’s heels with a 40’s {& sometimes 50’s & 60’s} inspired ensemble. It’s to die for! Here are some stills I snapped with my powershot for inspiration.

How perfect is this room? Notice the use of complementary colors blue and orange and all the perfectly placed details.

This is one of my favorite looks. It was even more gorgeous on the screen.

I definitely have seen a modern version of this couch floating around the decor blogs.

…to. die. for …

Some of my absolute favorite movies to watch and gain inspiration from are period pieces from the past {as this is} …the mix of the generations usually springs to life some original creations in a time when really, very little is original any more. …click to enlarge all photos in a slideshow if you like.
