Summer Shorts & Gladiator Sandals // #TargetStyle

cute summer shorts TargetStyle

What I’m Wearing…

* Short sleeve sweatshirt c/o Target {runs a teensy bit big}
* Print high waist shorts c/o Target {run a teensy bit small}
* Black round retro sunglasses c/o Target
* Gladiator sandals in black c/o Target
* Nike+ Fuelband, wrapped necklace as bracelet & anklet both by Odisya
* Navy mini Pashli bag by 3.1 Phillip Lim

Remember when I said I couldn’t stay within my #TargetStyle budget? This is why. I mean, how cute is this outfit!?! Everything is from Target except for my bag {AND everything is on sale now}. I LOVE these sunglasses, but they’re a hair crooked and man it drives me INSANE. I keep trying to heat them up and then bend them into shape, but with no luck. Ugh it’s a bummer though, because otherwise, they’re super cute. Anyone have tips on straightening out cheap sunglasses?

It’s only recently that I’ve been more comfortable in shorts. I’ve always felt like my legs are too muscular and thick to pull off shorts. My husband says I’m crazy, so that’s encouraging, but I’ve always wanted long and slender and very narrow legs. As I age, I’m grateful for them because everything changes as you age and the things you thought were attractive when you were younger fade and change as trends do. But also, you just begin to accept things over time and learn to love what you’ve got.

This year we’ve been hiking so much that most of the muscle has returned to my legs. Even when I wasn’t really using them, they looked muscular, but they didn’t feel strong to me. As cliche as it sounds, working out actually does work. But I hate the term “working out”. I prefer hiking everyday and staying active to going to the gym. That, for me, has always been the same though.

But it’s funny how far a little encouragement can go. I think the first time I met my husband I was in tiny green shorts and checkered Vans. It was the summer I was tan and it was moving day, so tiny shorts were appropriate as I thought I’d really not be seeing anyone in particular. Who’d have thought I would have met my husband that day 😉
