Martha Stewart’s Watermelon Slushie Cocktail

Martha Stewart June 2014 Cover

Our small family 4th of July gathering has turned into a house full of friends and family combined and I’m super excited to share this fun and festive holiday with everyone this year. Watching the fireworks explode over the lake is just the most amazing thing ever and I’m equally excited to watch the boats slowly float out and clutter the calm water as night falls and their lights flicker and reflect on the lake creating an image you only see on postcards. THEN BOOM! FIREWORKS! Last year was magical, and I’m so excited to have a house full of people this year to share it with.

We’re making it easy on ourselves and grilling up burgers and hot dogs, with fruit and salad sides and my delish cake pops for dessert, but I’d been at a loss as to what kind of festive cocktails to serve until this fun watermelon slushie from Martha Stewart popped up in my inbox and I was giddy. We already have a watermelon, so freezing a few lbs and popping it in the food processor or blender to mix with some booze sounds easy and refreshing… And I think the kiddos will enjoy it virgin style as well. I thought I’d share in case anyone was interested in serving it too.

It was originally featured in the June 2014 issue of Martha Stewart Magazine, with the gorgeous fruit smoothie on the cover {see above}, so you may have already seen it, but if not, Cheers! To a fun and fabulous cocktail sipping weekend!

Kitchen Wisdom : Summer Edition – June 2014

This is the image they sent me of the drink which was kind of boring so I added the recipe to it so it’s easy to remember, but I’ll make some this weekend, photograph them and then post my final cocktails here. I can’t wait to try them!!

Enjoy & Happy 4th!
