Gold Stools vs Golden Stumps

One of the perks of working for an art dealer is getting to look through the copious amount of auction catalogues that are sent to us throughout the year {which I posted about it here in 2008}. Many are for contemporary art, because that’s the business we are in, but some …some are for furniture, contemporary, modern and fabulously garish vintage & antique furniture.

The other day while drollgirl was sifting through the Wright 20 December 14 “Important Design” sale catalogue {which has some truly exquisite pieces} she flipped the page and spied these “Golden Stools” by Patrik Fredrickson and Ian Stallard and instantly thought of my golden tree stumps …currently being used as side tables in our game room.

And though theirs are more gold nugget-y than tree stumpity …the similarity is quite striking.

However, the Patrik Fredrickson and Ian Stallard stools that are up for auction are estimated at $5,00-$7,000 and I bought ours for $25 each.

Man I love that.

Once the husband became privy to this news however, he quickly opted to sell our golden stumps if we could indeed get $5k for them …to which I replied, not a chance.
