Glam Halloween Nails // Gold Spiders & Webs over Deep Purple

halloween spider web nails nail art

Last year, I did a fun take on SEISMOGRAPH NAILS using BLACK, COPPER, & SILVER METALLIC polishes for Halloween and I loved it. It was abstract and could be redone in any colors, for any season. But this year I wanted my Halloween nails to be a bit more specific. A few months ago Hex Nail Jewelry sent me a few fun gold jewels to try out for review and I thought this was the perfect occasion to do so. I love this manicure. It’s festive, but glam and relatively easy if you have a little patience. You can even skip the web part and just add the fun gold jewels, they have tons of options for Halloween and everyday.

What You’ll Need…

Halloween Nails-spider webs- hex nails

* Dark nail polish. I used OPI Lincoln Park After Dark {I still love this shade. It’s so flattering against so many skin tones}
* Metallic gold polish. I used Sonia Kashuk
* Gold glitter polish by Sephora for OPI
* Hex Nail Jewelry. I used Spider No.1 Gold Nail Jewelry
* A heavy duty top coat. I used Seche Vite.
* A fine paint brush or nail art brush
* Tweezers

Steps…

* Give your nails two coats of your dark polish and let dry.

* Apply a RIDICULOUSLY THICK top coat to your accent nail where you’re going to set your Hex Nail Jewel.

NOTE: This is how I DID IT. Hex Nails suggests using nail glue AFTER you apply your top coat to set your jewelry. But I’m 5 days into this manicure now and it’s still going strong.

* Choose your Hex Nail Jewelry… I chose the Spider No.1

* Carefully pick up your nail jewel with tweezers and set it in place {On your still-wet clear coat}, press down a bit, and let dry.

* Add more top coat around the edges to fill in the gaps and set in place. I didn’t paint over the entire spider, but all around the edges.

Now for the gold spider web…

* Using a small paintbrush or nail art brush, create 3-5 thin lines beginning at the corner of your nail and shooting outward.

* Chances are you’re going to paint them too thickly, like I did. Go back in with your darker color to touch them up.

Halloween Nails-hex nails-10

* Carefully create the webbed look by swooping lines in between.

Halloween Nails-hex nails-11

* I traced the lines in glitter polish {but didn’t coat the entire nail} to add more “gold” to match my spider and to make them pop a little more.

Voila!
