Our living room, like the rest of our new house, is slowly coming together, corner by corner. I do a little here in one room, and a little there in another, instead of completing an entire room then moving onto the next. But I get so excited to share that I can’t possibly wait until it’s finished to do so.

I found this amazing chair upholstered in a velvet animal print a couple weeks ago at Hotel Surplus Outlet while looking {unsuccessfully} for a slipper chair for my dressing room. It was alone and hiding up on the rafters but as soon as I saw it I knew it needed a home in our living room. It has been sitting quietly in front of our fireplace awaiting its final resting place under the antique black mirror …which lie resting up against the wall, awaiting it’s destiny as well. They were made for each other. And finally, late Sunday afternoon, I had 4 strong arms in the house who helped me hang the mirror and merge this little nook together.

The Vitruvian Perpetual Face Vase was a gift to my husband and I in 2005 which I love …many people {including my husband} think it’s kind of creepy. But I don’t see the creepiness in it at all really. I can’t seem to find it online in white anywhere but the black and silver are pretty great too.

Finally, and maybe most importantly, a most generous wedding gift from my boss …our Nathalia Edenmont “Josefina” {c-print mounted to plexi} was installed Monday afternoon. And I just love it! I chose the medium-dark gray wall color with it in mind and I love the contrast …not to mention the reflection of it in the mirror on the opposite wall. I am extremely happy to have a home with a wall large enough to hang it on. It’s so big and bright it makes me smile every time I walk in the room.

…and that little dimmer switch placed in a strange but admittedly convenient spot in the middle of the wall above the couch will soon light a fabulous Phrena Hanging Lamp by Karl Zahn, 2009 from the MOMA Store.

My first choice, really, was a George Nelson bubble lamp …but remembered that when they are lit, they have an amber/yellow glow instead of white. And since I knew this Nathalia Edenmont was whiter than white, I wanted the pendant lamp to be so as well. So I went for the Le Klint swags …but when I found this Phrena at a fraction of the cost, it was just too good to pass up. Hopefully it’s not a bitch to assemble. I cannot WAIT to get it!
