Completely Gratuitous JEWELRY Post…

If you’re a long-time reader of my blog, this post title may sound a little familiar to you… for those of you in the dark, back in the beginning, when I first began posting my outfits here {in late 2008}, I was a little embarrassed about the narcissistic nature of the whole thing. So to poke a little fun at it all, I titled each a Completely Gratuitous Outfit Post {which began around September 2008 if you search through my archives – but don’t because omg}. I’m often asked to bring back the “leg up” shot, in which I modeled my shoes for my iMac camera, but what’s in the past must stay in the past.

I found this pretty minty leathery crocodile embossed jewelry box I bought a few years ago just sitting emptily in a cubby next to me at my desk and randomly opened it the other day. I think after using it to help decorate my office, I forgot that it actually has a use. And when I opened it, it was so pretty inside I wanted to fill it with jewels and then promptly grabbed my camera for a pretty-girly-sparkly-photo op.

But in editing the photos, I felt that same twinge I had the very first time I posted photos of myself and felt the need to defend them a little as they are not meant to be boastful, but merely pretty in photographic nature. I grabbed a few of my favorite pieces and my daily wears and realized later that all the rings lined up were gifts from my husband. The Tiffany & Co. silver heart ring was the first piece of jewelry he gave me and it’s still one of my favorites. Our six year wedding anniversary is just around the corner and not that they need to, but each ring symbolizes a different anniversary and special time in our lives together.

Some of the pieces you see here are real and some are not… many of the necklaces are vintage and were my grandma’s and I’m sure you’ve seen them here before, either in a post or around my neck. Many are worth very little but the value to me is far greater than the price… that’s how jewelry is I suppose.
