freckles

I’ve always had a light dusting of freckles across my nose and cheeks, which appear darker in the summer when my skin is glowing warm with a summer tan, and I guess because they were so light, I never really gave them too much thought. There were never so many that I hated them, like so many girls do, and I think when I was in high school in the ’90s, Jane’s Addiction coined the term so perfectly, in my favorite song, Summertime Rolls… Annnnnd I think it made me like them even more more…

Freckles remind me of youth and of summer, and I think they’re cute and add so much character to any face, male or female. I had friends that wore mounds of concealer and foundation just to cover them up, which I thought was bizarre since they were a a feature I really loved.

I’ve noticed a ton of freckle makeup tutorials on youtube, but now you can actually have freckles tattooed right onto your face. It’s semi-permanent pigment rather than regular tattoo ink, so it only lasts for about 6 months to a year, but it’s giving people who have always wanted to be sun-kissed, a look that they love.

I’m always a little bit scared to do anything permanent to my face, or even stick it with needles to soften my 40 year old lines, but it seems fairly harmless, and it’s pretty damn cute.

If you have natural freckles, I hope you allow them to shine in all their glory, because you’re beautiful just the way you are.
