Artist Spotlight // Joe Mortell & His Dreamscapes …I Want to Live in

I spotted these incredibly awe-inspiring spaces on Instagram and immediately wanted to move in! Upon doing a little more research I found that rather than actual living quarters, these images are works of art by New York Times senior designer, 3D animation and illustration artist, Joe Mortell and I just had to share!

In a feature on Trendland, the artist stated…

“With every animation or illustration I make, I always experiment with making a part of it feel surreal. This is usually by playing with unusual colours or the composition of objects. If it’s an animation, I look at making things move in a way they wouldn’t in real life. I feel that, if I’m making something that could already exist, it’s interesting and fun to experiment with it in these ways!”

I think these images caught my attention because I always fall for a sunken living room. The dream home I’ve created in my mind has a sunken living room… and ironically, the house I am living in now has a few steps UP to the living room, which is cool, but not quite the same as a sunken one 🙂
