And if You Go Chasing Rabbits… You know You’re Going to Fall

love Maegan fashion style blog wearing black long maxi dress from target layered over a white blouse with puff sleeves and a baseball hat with a vintage scarf tied on the back standing in front of a mid century modern building in California

What I’m Wearing…

  • Black maxi dress with cut out and ruffle from TARGET! for $35 with 30% off! 🤗 BUT the way this could be ANY long black dress, makes me happy because it’s just a fun and versatile (and easy) look to pull off that elevates a little black summer maxi dress! I randomly found this at Target a few weeks ago for 30% off. I was the same day I bought the cargo pants I wore in my last outfit post (and also shared it a few days ago on my Substack). And it’s so funny, because I’m still not quite used to having access to so many stores just minutes away because living in Lake Arrowhead was so far from everything, I ordered everything online. Although I haven’t really shopped for clothes in a while, I still shop online, when I do, because it’s so much easier, but sometimes having options right at my fingertips, like when I stopped at Target for paper towels and evol frozen dinners (because they are so good and I can’t find them ANYWHERE else) I also randomly passed by this dress ON THE WAY TO THE FROZEN FOODS and couldn’t help but stop and grab it. It also has POCKETS and though the neckline is a teeny bit wonky (the cut of the sides is a bit wide under the arms so I might take it in with little darts) it actually looked SO CUTE layered over this old puff sleeved blouse I pulled from my closet, that I was just giddy to create a quick look without much effort! Anyway, I listed more cute long black dresses and all the other things too in the shopping widgets below!
  •

  • White cotton pouf sleeve blouse is ancient and I have no idea where I got it, but the tag says Organics – John Patrick – I did a quick search on my blog (you can search anything in the search bar, it’s kind of fun, since I’ve been doing this for so long, lol) and found one outfit back in MAY 2011 with skinny jeans and ten thousand bracelets, 😆 but still cute! (ps. when I update a post, it doesn’t keep its original publish date and that drives me crazy – so I’ve started adding it to the top of my posts when I update them – also, many of my old posts have broken links, or missing photos, outdated links or lack thumbnails, which is why I actually have so much work to do and would love to fix them all, but don’t really have the time – which is why the search bar comes in super handy) I’ve added more options similar to this in the shopping widget as well, but a simple white t-shirt would look cute as well, which I almost opted for! * * * * Here’s a similar look from MAY 2016! Using my DIY pearl T and this same little duffel bag!
  •

  • Mini Rockie bag by Alexander Wang with silver feet (which I mentioned in my last post that I started using on the daily now, and while it’s slightly annoyingly small when trying to fit my wallet in and out, I love it otherwise… so maybe I just need a smaller walled!)
  •

  • Simple, basic black mesh baseball cap (I’m not actually sure where or when I got this hat… have had it for ages)
  •

  • Vintage Scarf – which I think was my grandma’s, or I could have picked it up in a thrift shop years ago as well. I can’t tell what designer it is, and it feels more polyester than silk, which makes me think it was a knockoff of maybe a Gucci or Longchamp or Hermes because it gives that vibe – but I think it’s a cheap knockoff 😂. ANYWAY, I just loved the idea of this scarf tied to a hat, which I peeped Pinterest the other day and once I elevated the hat, it inspired the rest of the outfit! *** The brown in the scarf made me want to add brown accessories to the outfit. If you look closely, I did add my Hermes choker/couble wrap bracelet, clasp in the back since I was going with silver and it’s gold and then I originally thought I’d use my Louis Vuitton Speedy, but the black Alexander Wang just looked cuter. So I left the brown out, but kept the choker.

  • Jewelry: Tiffany heart keynecklace in sterling, Tiffany T ring in white gold , various other stacking silver and white gold rings
  • Puma Palermo sneakers
  • Vintage black sunglasses

A Few Things…

* I’m excited to share that I’m already on Chapter 7 of my book Everything She Never Had on Substack (where I release most chapters free weekly on Thursdays -sometime around midnight on Wednesday, more accurately) and they’re free for 2 weeks before locking for paying subscribers only. So if you want to read them for free, you have to keep up! It’s mostly fiction 🤭 and I’m having a blast writing this!

* My goal when I started making music last October was to release one song a month and I hit that goal every single month until last month (May 2025). I started a new song, but have had an ear infection for most of the month and have had trouble wearing my headphones AND hearing in my right ear. It feels almost back to 100% now, but it has been a bit annoying and after seeing multiple doctors and taking multiple antibiotics and ear drops, and realizing that part of it is allergies, I THINK I am free and hopefully will release a song in June and get back to my one song per month goal. I’ve only truly released 2 to stream, but the other five (where I was learning) are all in my SoundCloud, where I release all of them first. I’m still am ameteur, but it’s certainly a fun new project that my inner child is beaming about! So even though it seems a little silly at this age, and they might not be radio-worthy, being able to make songs (music, beats, instrumentals, vocals, production, singing, engineering) has been insanely FUN and cathartic I’m going to continue onward with it because WHY THE HELL NOT? 😄 I’ve never really used Spotify (I’m an apple/iTunes girlie, lol) but it says I have 8 monthly listeners, but at one point it said 63… not that either is really anything to write home about, lol, but I’m not even sure what that means 🤷‍♀️. Hopefully I’ll just keep my creative spirit alive and hope that maybe a song or two might make it out of the dark to see that light, because that would be an incredibly fun ride at any age!

* I celebrated my 49th birthday on June 1st (Sunday) and actually pulled up my calculator on my phone to do the math (1976-2025) just to double check because I couldn’t actually believe I was turning 49. 🤣 It makes no sense. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this number for some reason… I’m not upset or emotional about it in the least, though next year, FIFTY might be a different story. But it is wild that I’ve been here in this space since I was about 31 I think… though it was so new, I’ll go with 32 being the year I felt at home here, meeting so many of you and now knowing you and your pregnancies and babies and watching your children grow up into adults… 17 years is a LONG time, especially when it feels like a blip. I look back and have stories from at least two lifetimes in those 17 years, but it also feels like yesterday when I started sharing my outfits from the art gallery. And that is still blowing my mind. I’m sharing more deeply in videos on my Substack, every weekend, if you’re interested, find me there.

I am CLEARLY obsessed with the scarf tied to the hat situation here! I just LOVE IT! 😍

I shot this outfit in multiple locations because I couldn’t decide which was best and was very indecisive this day (there are two MORE locations not shown here!) and then forgot to take photos (aside from a few portraits, that actually turned out better than I thought they COULD! -much like my pro Nikon camera with my 50mmlens) and had to pull stills from my videos of my head to toe look from the locations I liked best, which is why some of the quality of the photos are sub par… But they look better on a smaller screen (i.e. my phone – which you’re probably viewing this on anyway) and on social media, but not as good uploaded here (or viewing on a computer). I’m not sure it matters anymore, but I still have that old blogger mindset of wanting beautiful photos but instead, they turn out more like they did in the early days with my Canon Powershot (June 2, 2011). Anyway, below are a few I shared on Instagram for my Completely Gratuitous Birthday post on Sunday. I shared on Instagram

She caught me 🤭
